Rob began his career as a financial advisor in 1988 with Butcher & Singer (Later Wheat First Securities). In 2000 he moved his practice to RBC Wealth Management where he served as both an advisor and Branch Director in several offices in New Jersey. Despite a great affection for RBC and many of the people he had the good fortune to work with, Rob decided to establish his own practice in Westfield. As the founder and Managing Partner of Robert Shaffer Wealth Management, Rob has been able to create a firm custom designed to serve his long term clients. Potential new clients are given that same treatment.
Before joining the wealth management industry, Rob was a professional musician, recording engineer and soundtrack editor for radio and television production. He worked on a variety of advertising campaigns and was a soundtrack editor for the 1980s cartoon series “Thundercats”. He grew up in North Carolina, graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and moved to Westfield with his wife Cathy in 1983.
